SandStill Disc Sander
Served as one of two team leads for Gold Team in the Mechanical Engineering Capstone, 2.009 The Product Design Process. After a 6 week ideation period, Gold Team developed in 8 weeks a disc sander that stops when a finger is detected via capacitance. The project was an exercise in managing 16 people across mechanical, structural, and electrical subsystems. The alpha prototype was demonstrated live on stage in front of the MIT community. SandStill exceeded design targets, and can stop in 78 ms.
2.009 Gold Team was awarded the Thomas Sheridan Prize for Creativity in Man-Machine Integration.
